Listening, learning and embracing change to create a career to be proud of
Some jobs look good on paper. Others can become the perfect job for you, after you've started. That's what happened for Melanie.
Within days of joining Bally's in February 2025, she wasn't picking out which desk to sit at, she was on a plane going from property to property. Across Lake Tahoe, Shreveport, Biloxi, Lincoln, and Evansville, Melanie sat down with GMs, Executive Directors, Directors of Sales, and Sales Managers with one straightforward goal: listen, understand what's getting in the way, and fix it. It threw her in the deep end, but it also made her realize the kind of career she could build at Bally's.
At every stop, as she was wrapping up, she heard the same two things: "Don't leave" and "When are you coming back?"
Those lines stuck with her. People weren't just glad for the company, they were grateful that someone had shown up, taken the time to understand their actual day-to-day problems, and done something about them. The work Melanie did didn't need a grand strategy document. It required showing up and delivering. And that's just the kind of work Bally's makes room for.
The leader who changes things
When she started, Melanie didn't realize how much the right manager would shape her entire experience. From day one, her manager gave her the trust to move fast and make decisions without waiting for sign-off at every turn. Their weekly check-ins are real conversations about outcomes and opportunities and the principle that's stuck with her most is "Let's test it, and if it doesn't work, at least we tried."
"That mindset encourages innovation without fear of failure, and it's changed the way I approach challenges. Now I can't imagine working in an environment that doesn't embrace that kind of trust, collaboration, and willingness to experiment. It's what makes Bally's feel like the perfect fit for where I want to go."
Bringing out the best in herself
It's great Bally's providing you with the opportunities and environments you need to succeed, but you also need to be willing to find ways of working that help you reach your best too.
Melanie does this by starting her mornings with music. Whether it's a quick dance in the mirror or an early workout class at the gym, it makes sure she can get her mindset right before the workday begins.
"That routine has a big impact on how I show up at Bally's. If I come in motivated and upbeat, it sets a positive tone for the teams I work with. My role is about connection and collaboration, so bringing that joyful, can-do attitude into every meeting helps open up communication and creativity."
Always finding new ways to improve
For Melanie, she finds joy in figuring out new ways to make the work easier, smarter, and more rewarding for the Sales teams she works with. She says, "it's not just about what we do, it's about how we do it together." Which is exactly what it means to be All One Team, something else we pride ourselves on at Bally's.
Thinking about applying?
Be ready to grow. Not just upward, but outward. Finding excitement in change, and moving across markets, disciplines, and perspectives. Bally's isn't a company where you're boxed into one role or one property. So if you're curious, flexible, and open to new challenges, Bally's will give you the chance to take your skills to the next level and open up new experiences that'll build a bright career that you can be proud of.
